Our Mission Statement

As the guy who started this company, I’m most often asked “what do you guys do exactly?” with a close runner-up being “what is a virtual label?” We've now been doing this since 2007, and 48 different competitors have opened and closed in the time we've been open. Why?

Well, let’s start with some basic facts before I outline the mission of Nine North Records Label Group:

Each and every year:

  1. Approximately 27,000 new releases hit the market.

  2. Those are just the albums and EPs that hit the SoundScan sales charts.

  3. 40,000 new tracks per day are uploaded to Spotify ALONE.

  4. That's over 14 million tracks a year.

  5. Less than 10% of these releases are profitable on average.

These days everyone goes looking for whatever the "new model" is because the "old model" of the recording industry has been broken for a long time now. All you have to do is look up and down the music streets in Nashville, New York or LA and see that the big buildings that major labels are in are pretty but empty. They don't even own the buildings they're in anymore, they rent.

What then? In the absence of an old model, what is the new one?

Nine North Records Label Group was built & founded in the spirit of the new model. We don’t believe there is just one new model that fits everyone anymore. What works for Billie Eilish doesn’t work for Ariana Grande any more than what fits Sam Hunt fits Keith Urban.

The new model isn’t about one-size-fits-all. It’s about hand-tailored suits crafted for you and your needs and JUST for you.

That’s what Nine North Records Label Group does every day for our artist clients.

With the new model, the only limits are money & imagination – and YOU are the captain of your ship.

There’s no "hurry up and wait" of signing with a major then sitting still for 3 ½ to 4 years while they decide when you’re coming out.

You don’t have the worry of wondering if the same people who signed you with all that passion will still be there by the time it’s your turn at bat – and I'm willing to bet you they WON’T be.

Majors don't have the personnel or bandwidth to take an artist from nothing to something anymore. If it were up to them, they'd pick up a project that's 3/4 of the way there and carry it the rest of the way. THAT'S the reality today.

We are a virtual label, and here’s what this term means to you and the plan we would

handcraft for you:

The core team does the heavy lifting of promotion & social media/marketing for new & established Country artists. The promotion team handles both mainstream chart stations and indicators/activators that report to BDS & Mediabase. We are also constantly on the road maintaining relationships with those stations as well as doing introductory radio tours for our artist clients.

The social media team is here to promote you and your music online to our tens of thousands of Nine North Records Label Group online followers. These honored followers are both radio decision-makers and music fans. Plus, we can also assist you with your online social media strategy and presence. We can sit down and show you an effective way to build your following, or we can even help build it for you. The choice is yours.

We assist with A&R, artwork, mixing, mastering, business affairs, legal, marketing, publicity, retail, and digital service providers (Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, YouTube Music) all on an a-la-carte, pay as you go basis.

We will always work your music with the same degree of passion & intensity you put into making it, and you will always know where things stand.

All of that adds up to the special relationships we develop with our artist clients; we call it the Nine North Records Label Group Difference.

We know you have your choice of companies, but feel free to reach out to me at larry@ninenorthmail.com anytime to find out why we’d be your BEST choice.

Cheers, Larry
